The Vasalopp Trail

Vasalopp trail is world famous for the Nordic cross-country skiing competitions in Winter.

The Vasalopp Trail in central Sweden in the province of Dalarna is also a great option for hikers.


World-famous for the world´s largest ski race.

This trail is famous for the “Vasalopp” ski event every year.  So if you’re coming in spring, summer and autumn you can hike or bike the trail and in winter, you can go skiing.

 

Why the name ´Vasa´

Gustav Vasa escaped the Danish king in 1521. Gustav stopped in Sälen and turned back to the town of Mora to lead an uprising against the occupying power from Denmark. The 90-kilometre path follows this route to honour his memory. Here you can hike, bike or ski from Mora to Sälen and there a many accommodations along the way.
