The Fisheries and Maritime Museum

Visit this saltwater aquarium for seals and native specials with indoor and outdoor exhibitions.

This privately owned museum, 4km north-west of Esbjerg Centre first opened in 1968 offers many exciting experiences for the whole family. Watch the seals in the sealarium and native fish all year round in large aquariums and various marine-related displays.

Unique maritime experiences

The museum offers fascinating experiences for the whole family, where you can learn more about nature below the sea surface. Take a walk through the saltwater aquarium and discover sharks, crabs and rays, and you can touch the fish because the pool is designed for this.

Open-air exhibition

Outside the museum, there is an open-air exhibition and feel the maritime atmosphere as a number of fishing boats are placed outside the building together with a reconstructed coastal lifeboat station and a lovely playground

If you get hungry it is possible to have a menu in the Café Fimus with at great view.

Just outside the museum you can the monument "Man meets the sea" created by Svend Wiig Hansen to mark Esbjerg`s centennial in 1995.
